SuperControl Development Updates Q1 2024

Updated on

User Interface Update

Property settings & Grid view

Our updated Add/Edit Property Settings page now features a streamlined interface, dividing settings into basic/core and advanced categories for ease of use. A new toggle at the top enables a quick switch between these settings, simplifying your experience.

We're on track for beta testing the new Grid View in Q1 and will soon be selecting participants from the many enthusiastic applicants. If chosen, you'll be contacted shortly to join this exciting phase.

Alongside the Property Settings and Grid View project, we're making steady progress with updates to other parts of the system such at Tooltips throughout SuperControl and much more. These improvements are part of our larger strategy for step-by-step UI enhancements. Our goal with these gradual updates is to consistently enhance your experience with SuperControl throughout 2024.

New Amenities Features

We've enhanced the Amenities section in SuperControl for bulk property management. You can now automatically apply amenities to all new properties with a single action.  You can also instantly update all existing properties with a common amenity in one go too. This eliminates the need for individual updates. Plus, selecting common amenities can speed up your OTA onboarding process.

Tip: Select 6+ common amenities across your properties to streamline OTA onboarding via our channel manager.

Airbnb Integration Enhancements

In the last quarter, our development team updated the Airbnb APIs we use, ensuring our integration continues smoothly. We're pleased to report the migration went to plan.

Along with updating the APIs, we made a few minor tweaks and changes to our Airbnb interface in SuperControl, in response to Airbnb's updates. These adjustments include:

  • Introduction of new privacy settings
  • Addition of deactivation reasons
  • Removal of some outdated settings
  • Discontinuation of the shared setting option
  • Removal of the instant book message feature

Dynamic Pricing: Length of Stay Pricing (LOS)

We've recently adapted our Beyond and Price Labs integrations, introducing Length of Stay (LOS) Pricing. This is a step up from the previous limitations of only supporting daily prices or daily prices with a percentage of the weekly price.

What's New:

  • Straightforward Integration: If you opt for LOS pricing, it now syncs with Beyond through adaptations we've made in SuperControl.
  • Improved Price History Logs: In SuperControl's booking section, the price history logs now reflect LOS pricing, offering a clearer view in the price planner interface.
  • Enhanced Validation: On the Beyond integration page, there's now a validation feature to indicate whether LOS is activated.
  • Flexible Pricing Options: We've adapted the interface to be user-friendly, allowing you to easily switch between standard, percentage, or LOS pricing as per your preference.

Keeping Payments Safe: PCI Level 1 Service Provider Audit

Our team of system administrators and developers have been investing a significant amount of time and effort into an important project, which has been a focus of our recent work sprints. This project is the PCI Level 1 Service Provider Audit. It’s about making sure the way we handle large numbers of credit card transactions is secure. Here's what's involved:

  • Thorough Check-Up: Every year, we have an expert (called a Qualified Security Assessor) visit us to check everything. They make sure we're doing things right according to the PCI DSS standards. This means they look at how we secure our network, protect data, control who has access to what, and even how we physically secure our premises.
  • Comprehensive Assessment: This ensures our paperwork and processes are in order. The auditor examines our policies, how we manage risks, respond to incidents, train our staff, and oversee our vendors.
  • Fixing and Reporting: After finding what needs improvement, we create a plan to fix those things. Then, we report our findings and how we've addressed them in a document known as the Report on Compliance.

In short, this audit helps us ensure that we're handling your payment information safely and securely, living up to the high standards required for protecting cardholder data.

Maintenance and Speed Optimisation

We've recently focused on improving the technical backbone that supports your listings. Specifically, we've updated the APIs (the software intermediaries that allow two applications to talk to each other) used by our channel manager. These updates are part of our maintenance work and are aimed at making the connections with our third-party channels even stronger. This project aims to enhance the speed and accuracy of price and data collection, offering a smoother integration process.

Elavon URLs

We want to reassure all of you using Opayo (formerly Sagepay) for payment processing: if you've received an email from Elavon about needing to update URLs, there's no need for concern. This update is something we at SuperControl are handling on your behalf, ensuring that your connection to the payment gateway remains secure. We understand that technical updates related to payments can seem daunting, which is why we've taken care of the necessary changes for you. These updates are live well ahead of the deadline, so you can continue to manage your payments without interruption.
