Airbnb has recognised it wasn't effectively designed for people with disabilities. In humbling conversations with travellers with disabilities and advocacy groups, they listened to stories, gained perspective and learned how to do better. Airbnb quickly realised that their previous solution — a single “wheelchair accessible” option to filter for accessible homes — failed to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Guests weren't getting the information they needed to find the right homes, nor the confidence that the home they selected would actually be accessible for them.
This is why Airbnb and SuperControl developed the Accessibility Amenities.
These amenities are showing at the top of the page accessed via Properties > Web details >> Airbnb data > tab Amenities.
By default you will see them listed, but with a x in front of them.
That means they have not yet been mapped to an amenity created in SuperControl.
Go to Property > Amenities > Add / Edit amenities and create a new amenity.
For details how to do that, please see this help centre article.
Go to Property > Amenities > Add / Edit amenities and map the amenity to the Airbnb equivalent.
For details how to do that, please see this help centre article.
Please note:
The accessibility amenities are not especially marked as such. They look just as all other amenities.
1. Go to Properties > Photos (to the right of the property) > Go.
2. Decide which photos is showing the amenity, e.g. an wide doorway.
3. From the Airbnb accessibility drop-down menu select the accessibility amenity
4. Click Save at the bottom of the page
Please note:
When you set up accessibility amenities Airbnb will do extra checks. It will take considerably longer to get this properties connected and listing on Airbnb than it does with "normal" amenities.
