Please note:
If a booking is modified, the amount due for XCover can either be less, the same or more than the original amount due.
-
The new amount due is less than the original amount paid
The guest will not be refunded the difference between the originally paid amount and the new, lower amount. -
The new amount due is the same as the original amount paid
The guest does not have to pay anything further towards XCover. -
The new amount due is higher than the original amount paid
The guest needs to pay the difference between the originally paid amount and the new amount calculated due to the changes made in the booking.
If a modification is made to a booking, but XCover is not updated, it doesn't make the cover invalid. It only means that the Refund Protection policy will only cover the original price of the booking.
Example:
The rental price paid by the guest is £1000. XCover is calculated on this rental price and the guest has paid it.
The booking is modified. The rental price increases to £1500. The new XCover policy is calculated on £1500. The guest would need to pay the difference between the original XCover price and the new one.
Should they not pay the difference and the booking is cancelled, the guest would only receive a maximum of £1000, as that is the rental amount covered by the original policy.
Please note:
Any booking modification where the price is not updated, for example just capacity or dates are modified and this doesn't change the price of the booking, then SuperControl will update XCover automatically to let XCover know of the new date changes, you do not need to take any action.
If you modify the dates or price of a booking that already has XCover on it, you will be alerted in SuperControl as to what to do next as soon as you make the modification.
Firstly the XCover modifications portal will pop-up on the page:

If the Refund protection is eligible for modification, as in the example above, you will have the option to Apply new Refund Protection.

If you select this option, this will update the balance of the booking and the balance in the payment pages so the guest can pay the difference.

The original existing cover will remain as the active cover on the booking until the guest pays for the new Refund Protection amount.
If the guest changes their mind and selects No, then the previous existing cover will remain on the booking.

If you make a modification to a booking but don't update the XCover at that point you can always come back and modify it in the future. We will show an alert icon to remind you.

Please note:
Any booking modification where the price is not updated, for example just capacity or dates are modified and this doesn't change the price of the booking, then SuperControl will update XCover automatically to let XCover know of the new date changes, you do not need to take any action.
Processing the difference for the XCover premium manually in the booking
In the customer payment tab a tick box will be visible when there is an accepted alteration to XCover, which is awaiting payment.
If you want to process the outstanding difference for a changed Xcover premium manually, you need to tick this box. This will confirm the change in premium automatically.
You can use this tick box for card and non-card custom payments.
