How to add Sykes as a source

Updated on

If you have been taking bookings for a while via Sykes and are (now) using SuperControl to manage your bookings, you most likely will have added Admin bookings to SuperControl to block of the dates for the Sykes bookings.
This is good practice and we encourage for this to be done.

During the connection process these Admin bookings will be replaced in your SuperControl account with cross-updated bookings from Sykes.
This ensures that any changes made to the bookings in the Sykes system, e.g. date changes, are automatically reflected in SuperContol.

To enable the team connecting you, you need to make sure that all the relevant Admin bookings in SuperControl have Sykes as their source.

The source of a booking can be found by going into the booking and then selecting the tab Website and source

Please note:
If you have not yet set up a booking source called Sykes, you need to do this first.
For further information on how to do this, please see this help centre article.

Creating a booking source

1) Log into SuperControl
2) Go to Booking > Booking sources

3) Scroll to the bottom of the page so that you see the list of existing sources

4) a) Add the name of the source, here it should be Sykes
     b) Enter the position you want it to display in the list of sources (leave blank, if it's not
       required)
     c) Tick, if you want the source to show in the source list on the guest booking form
     d) Select which website the source should be associated with (this is more relevant when
the source is added bookings directly to SuperControl, not cross-updating)

5) Make sure you click Add new

Allocating the booking source

6) Go to  Bookings > Search bookings to search
In order to allocate the Sykes source to the correct bookings you can use booking search to find all future Admin bookings.
Change the filters so that they reflect the below screenshot

7) In the list of bookings you will get we, click onto the heading Booking Type (you might need to click it twice to get  the Admin bookings at the top)

If you have used something like Sykes booking o.s. as the guest name, you can simply go through all these bookings.
Should you have no reference to the fact that the booking was received via Sykes, you might need to check all Admin bookings to make sure you amend the correct ones.

8) Go to the booking and select the Website & source tab.

9) From the drop-down select Sykes
10) Click Save on the right hand side

You need to amend all other place holder booking the same way, using the steps 8) - 10) above.
