AirBnb is using Google Maps to show the location of properties.
In rural areas, e.g. a large portion of Scotland, Google Maps has often no official knowledge of a property's location. This makes the full content onboarding of properties to Airbnb a challenge.
Please note:
If a property has been connected using the full content connection and has received a booking, only Airbnb can correct the location.
Neither you, the customer, nor us at SuperControl can no longer do this after a booking for the property has been received.
Please note:
In order to amend the settings as required, it is best to have the different web pages required open in different tabs next to each other.
- Open Properties > Edit > Maps > Go in the first tab.
This will show you, where the property is according to the address and/or coordinates.
It is possible to move the property location indicator (the small house) freely to any location on the map .
- Open Properties > Edit > Web details -> Airbnb data > Go > tab Location in the second tab.
The location information (address and/or coordinates) in this tab must be accurate.
Please note:
For any fields of the address the correct (official) information must have been added.
Entries like in the screenshot below for City: Near Cheltenham should not be used.
- Open Google maps in the third tab.
- Copy the postcode from the property settings (first tab) and paste them into the search field.
There is no pin appearing for the location of the property. This means Google maps doesn't know this address. It's not a location which is registered with Google maps.
This means you have to use the closest real pin, the closest location Google maps does recognise.
In the screenshot below it would be Castle Barn Farm.
As the precise address is directly provided to the guest it is fine to use a pin location that is close to the property, but not exactly the same location.
- Select the closest (grey) pin on the map. it will turn into a red pin.
The address will show on the left hand side.
- Add this address to the Location tab on the Airbnb Data page (2nd tab)
- In the address field of the Google maps tab (3rd tab) you can find the coordinates (longitude and latitude) of the location.
The first number is the Latitude, the second one the longitude.
Please note:
The longitude can be a negative value.
- Copy them to the relevant fields in Airbnb Data > Location tab (2nd tab).
- Save the changes made.
- Go to the property maps page (1st tab) page and drag the map pin to the location that matches the location chosen in Airbnb Data > Location tab (2nd tab).
This change will be saved automatically.
