In order to collect a pet fee from guests booking with Airbnb which allows you to keep track of the amounts collected we advise to create an Airbnb specific booking extra.
this also allows you to select different option to charge for pets, e.g. per booking or per pet per night.
- Go to Properties > Booking extras.
- Create a new booking extra named Airbnb Pet Fee or similar.
It should be obvious that this pet fee is only to be used for Airbnb, not your website.
Please note:
Make sure, you are applying this booking extra to only Airbnb in the settings.
- Click Save.
- In the list of booking extras, click the name of the newly created booking extra.
- On the next page change to All properties.
If you don't change the view, you won't see any properties as the booking extra has not yet been allocated to any property.
- Add all relevant settings.
Please pay especial attention to the set up selected for the column Unit. Here you set up how the pet fee is being applied.
Four specific groups of the setting available are set up to forward the price for a pet in a specific way.
The settings will be saved automatically.
Here is a summary of how each option is mapped to Airbnb:
Blue Per booking, regardless of number of pets selected
Red Per night, regardless of number of pets selected
Green Per pet and Per booking
Yellow Per pet and Per night
If any of the other options (obfuscated in the screenshot above) are applied, they will be ignored.
Airbnb does not support per week or percentage options.
The last step is to allocate the Airbnb pet fee booking extra to the Pet fee details we are forwarding to Airbnb.
- Go to Properties > Edit > Web details - Airbnb data select the Booking settings tab section House Rules.
- Tick the option Pets allowed.
- From the drop-down menu select the Airbnb Pet Fee booking extra.
The options set up in the booking extra will be automatically forwarded to Airbnb.
